Where does one go to look for performance parts for Toyotas? The Corolla is going to need a short shifter at some point but I don’t know where to be looking for those to become available.

Does i s there a TRD option. You can probably have it installe at the dealer and warrantied.

I’d imagined lowering springs, sway bars, exhaust all that Jazz can be had through TRD, but idk.

Nothing from TRD for the Corolla Hatch yet except a performance air filter and a performance oil filter.

From what I’ve seen, Toyota fans, or at least their engineers, go to BMW or Subaru when their looking for performance upgrades.

With such a new car, it won’t take long for performance companies to start making parts. You could try the ‘house tuner’, TRD. An option could be offering to have your car serve as a testbed. I wouldnt do that with a shortshifter necessarily, as I don’t know what effect it could have on your transmission, but I know K&N used to do inquirys for testbed cars to develop certain air filters. If you had that certain type of car and you were willing to install the air filter, they would sell it to you at a great discount, if Im not mistaken.

As far as specifically looking for parts for your particular car, how about simply typing in the chassis designation with ‘short shifter’ behind it on google?

Or scavenge toyota corolla forums for information and reviews?

I’m honestly not sure what the chassis code is for this new Corolla platform. Putting “2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback short shifter” into Google just gets you all the reviews talking about the manual transmission.

That’s a bummer. Odd that they’ve spent so much time marketing the car as a fun/enthusiast  option, but haven’t made any performance parts for it.

It’s a brand new platform which wasn’t introduced with a TRD trim or option package. I’m sure there’s stuff in the works but it probably wasn’t enough of a given that there would be interest in TRD bits for a Corolla to put the development effort in to be ready before release.

The odds are good that the J apanese tuner market is about a year ahead of us, I’d look through nengun and yahoo auctions japan. You might have to import the parts, but I bet they have parts in japan already for the platform.

Don’t tell anyone but the Squirrel has always been naturally aspirated.

This is the biggest bombshell on Oppo since RPM replaced his 4Runner with a 4Runner.

Japan got the platform only a couple months before we got it here in the states. They also didn’t get the 2.0L +6 speed combo we got here in the states. They got a manual with the 1.2L but I’m not sure if it is the same 6 speed we get here in the states.

Ahh, then you’re probably stuck wating a bit. Couldn’t find anything with a quick search and the TRD parts catalog doesn’t seem to have the platform yet.

Only thing TRD has for it is a performance air filter and a performance oil filter. As far as I can tell nobody has anything yet, just wondering where I should start looking for them to appear.

Normally I’d say TAS, but if J apan doesn’t have the same configuration, then SEMA.

I don’t really do FWD stuff much and I’m pretty sure they usually end up with bespoke transmissions, but is the trans shared with anything else? Or was it a brand new ground up drivetrain?

Doing some digging it appears the 1.2 uses the same 6 speed as the US cars so I’ll have to keep an eye out. Time to learn how to be JDM, yo.

I’m honestly expecting the aftermarket to be a bit slow on the uptake with these but I think in 5 years once autocrossers start getting their hands on them I think they will have some pretty good support.

It was a new engine and trans combo for this generation but it appears that Japan gets the same 6 speed we do but paired with the 1.2 instead of the 2.0.

Toyota makes the best cars! You should be able to get a short shifter on eBay :p

Webasto does offer a sunroof for it, which is key because Toyota doesn’t offer a factory su nroof for the Corolla hatch

Sunroofs are just extra weight strapped to the top of the car.

It looks like my best bet is going to learn how to be JDM, yo and grab one from Japan once they start making them for their cars (same transmission as our US cars but paired with a 1.2L instead of the 2.0L)

Wikipedia says chassis code E210 I'd try that.

Yeah, then Japan will probably lead the us aftermarket by a fair bit. Their market is usually a pretty accurate window into upcoming us parts for Japanese cars.

The code is E210. I fell asleep yesterday as I was writing a reply,

The only company that has any aftermarket parts that I could find is Tom’s Racing. I couldnt find any short shifter kits, so I’d suggest you wait it out and keep an eye on google and/or Toyota Corolla forums.
